Preparing your Boat Windows for Winter

During winter when there are colder temperatures, the frameless acrylic windows seem to shrink alot. This happens in Plexiglass and Lexan type acrylic windows.

The best thing to do to prepare for winter is to grab your favorite toolkit, and undo those screws just a little bit to loosen them up. This will hopefully help you avoid them cracking and splitting. You may also want to clean them as dirt can also contribute to wear and tear in winter.

If your windows are inside one of those black rubber frames, there isnt anything to worry about, just leave them be and keep the rubber well lubricated so that it doesn’t crack. They won’t need loosening :)

Once winter is finished, make sure you tighten the windows back up otherwise you will be up for some window replacement bills :)
